In July 2024, Nyendo.lernen welcomed Prosperity Junior into its network of partner schools in Kenya.

The school was founded in 2019 by Mr. Patrick Murini and his older brother. Today, it serves 352 students across 12 classes, including a high school section. Sixteen teachers and six support staff members (kitchen and maintenance) care for the students on a daily basis.

Many of the children and teenagers come from vulnerable backgrounds; some are orphans and depend on the school not only for education, but also for a safe place to stay. This inspired the idea of building a multi-storey dormitory on the school grounds.

In November 2024, we received a generous private donation that already allowed us to realize smaller projects. At the moment, €3,600 are still available to support the construction of a boys’ dormitory at Prosperity Junior Center.

During the planning phase, we were fortunate to meet Patrick Othieno (Kenya) and Jamey Ponte (USA) from the Kibera Arts District (KAD), who generously offered their support.

In the meantime, we now have a construction plan that complies with Kenyan government regulations for school buildings, as well as a cost estimate of 2,252,000 Ksh (approx. €16,000).

This budget would allow us to lay a solid foundation, construct a ground floor with a dormitory for up to 32 boys, and prepare the structure for the addition of a first and second floor. Once further funding is secured, the building can continue to grow step by step.

Support the Prosperity Junior Center with your donation – and give young people a safe place to call home!
