The school company Upendo Tamu is run by the Freie Waldorfschule Rosenheim. Upendo Tamu is Swahili and means something like “sweet love”. The name is the program every Friday.

Sweet break – a win-win for everyone

On Fridays, the school break at the Freie Waldorfschule Rosenheim is transformed into a gourmet paradise. This is when the school company Upendo Tamu sells homemade cakes and muffins. The classmates are grateful customers. But the young entrepreneurs are not doing this for nothing. They have a big mission with this sweet treat: the proceeds from the break-time sales support projects in Kenya that are sponsored by nyendo.lernen.

Cinema snacks for a good cause

Hard-working business people make the most of every opportunity. The school regularly hosts movie nights together. And the dedicated pupils also demonstrated their entrepreneurial spirit at the last movie night once again: Freshly prepared popcorn ensured sales for a good cause and perfect movie enjoyment for the audience.

Weekly start for school business

The members of the school company meet regularly on Mondays to develop new ideas and coordinate their activities. Brigitte from nyendo.lernen provided information about current and future projects in Kenya at the last online meeting.

This time, there was also a sense of anticipation for two special highlights: the upcoming trip to Kenya by some of the young people and Maggie’s visit to Germany. Maggie is one of the most important partners from the project country.

With a lot of passion, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, Upendo Tamu shows how solidarity works in real life. Every cake, muffin and popcorn bag sold is a small but important step towards making the world a little better.
