The installation of a larger water tank with a capacity of 10,000 liters in November 2021 could help. On the part of NYENDO this project was supported with 740,00 €. Now even drinking water can be sold to the people in the neighborhood to generate a small income for the school.
The learning success of the students depends on many things, some of which we take for granted in Europe, but which are a problem elsewhere. At the self-help schools in the slums of Nairobi, fresh and clean water is not a matter of course, but has to be bought and carried to school in canisters.
At our partner school, Kanyorosha Self Help School, the lack of clean drinking water led to absenteeism of students due to illness. There was a lack of drinking water for the school kitchen and for personal and general hygiene.
