In the heart of Kangemi, Nairobi, lies the Bethel Community Development Centre School.

Founded in 2007 with only 20 children, the school now welcomes around 80 students. It is led by Immaculate Lumasayi Chimwani, whose tireless dedication gives children from vulnerable backgrounds and orphans the chance to access education.

The learning conditions remain extremely modest: makeshift classrooms, only two toilets for everyone, and teachers who often work for months without pay. And yet, Bethel is a true place of hope – sustained by the devotion of its teachers and the children’s joy of learning.

With the support of nyendo, an additional classroom has already been built and vital school materials provided. Still, the school urgently needs furniture and further assistance.

“Without our school, many of these children would be on the streets,” says Immaculate. For her, education means hope – and the possibility of a better future.

Looking ahead, the planned nyendo Social Hub aims to provide long-term stability and growth for schools like Bethel – offering learning spaces, a hostel, and a place of encounter for children, teachers, and nyendo students from Germany and Austria.

Together, we can bring hope – to Bethel, to Kangemi, to a whole generation of children.
