Making art can achieve a lot. In Art classes, children learn to develop their own ideas, express themselves and develop their social skills.
This is why we at nyendo.lernen financed two months of art lessons for two groups of pupils at Prosperity School. Two art teachers from the very committed local project Kibera Arts District supported us.
The pupils have now completed seven very successful weeks of lessons. Around 25 highly motivated young people actively took part. The eighth and, for the time being, last lesson took place on May 9, 2025.
The first phase came to a great end and of course we want to continue!
Patrick from Kibera Art District was very creative when it came to reducing costs so that as many pupils as possible could attend art classes, and with the help of additional support for the teachers, an important goal is to be achieved. We aim to teach 60 students each at Prosperity School and Love School, reaching a total of 120 students per session.
The cost per pupil has been reduced to 60 KSH (€0.40). In future, the courses will take place on weekdays to enable more children to attend.

It was also very satisfying to see the schools themselves fully support the project. In addition to the pupils, the teachers are also very committed. They have overcome some logistical hurdles at the beginning and Nard, an artist from KAD, is carefully documenting the progress.
Everyone agrees: with color, joy and confidence, the creative potential of the young people can be fostered. The remaining issue is funding. The lessons are a great enrichment for the children. That is why we are making a big request to the Nyendo community:
Help make the next round of art lessons possible – for even more young people.
Donate, share or contact us – every contribution counts!
