The site where the dormitory is planned to be built.
The development of the Prosperity School Boys Dormitory has been a journey of dedication and collaboration. Initially slated to start early last year under architect Miss Brenda Kavili from Saka Studio, the project faced unexpected challenges when Brenda resigned just a week before construction was set to begin.
After her departure, we quickly sought a new architect, receiving a referral from our Nyendo partners at KIBERA ART DISTRICT (KAD). Our first meeting with the new architect was promising, but she later informed us that prior commitments would prevent her from taking on our project.
Despite these setbacks, our commitment to providing a conducive learning environment remains steadfast. We continued our search for a suitable partner and approached KAD again for assistance. Jarmy, the CEO of KAD, stepped in to oversee the project himself, bringing renewed energy and direction.
On April 22nd, we held our first online meeting with Jarmy, and progress has since been significant. We met with the KAD mason responsible for the dormitory’s construction, who is now preparing a quotation. Once approved, construction will commence immediately, marking a major milestone in our journey.

Jarmy has also prepared a comprehensive project plan detailing timelines and responsibilities to ensure a smooth construction process. Our experience has shown that perseverance and community support are crucial in overcoming obstacles. We are grateful for everyone involved and look forward to the completion of the Prosperity School Boys Dormitory, which will provide a safe and comfortable space for our students.
