The nyendo community met for the 13th time on Fraueninsel in Chiemsee. Students and coaches exchange ideas and plan new projects.

On a virtual trip to Kenya

The participants arrived on January 30. On Thursday, they presented the activities and projects they had completed over the past year. Friday is traditionally Kenya Day. Now our partners there cannot simply travel to Germany and take part in the retreat. No problem with modern video technology and a live link to Nairobi. We spoke to representatives from four schools that are supported by nyendo. This allowed us to see something of the schools via the camera.

Our colleague Maggie reported from the Prosperity School. Some of the pupils attending will be traveling to Kenya this year and Maggie took the opportunity to show them where they will be staying.

PushingPuPushing Business

Our German students want to help people in need with their projects and get to know foreign cultures. Above all, however, they want to learn how to run a business and what is involved. They practise this in their student companies. To help them learn the necessary skills and improve their business competence, there was another workshop with business coach Sebastian Portenlänger from Aktivsenioren. The main topic was marketing. The focus was on the question: “How can we generate more reach and make our products more visible?”

Sebastian Portenlänger already knows nyendo and is pleased to be supporting us once again.

Learning from others

The young entrepreneurs also wanted to exchange experiences with each other, just like at “normal” congresses and trade fairs. Practices that work in other student companies are interesting for everyone. Above all, of course, mistakes that others should not repeat.

And so experiences, tips and warnings were diligently exchanged.

And always keep moving

All the learning and discussion naturally took place mainly in a seated position. It was therefore important for the participants to keep moving in between. A small self-defense course was offered for this purpose. Above all, there was another dance evening – with international contributions, led by Katharina.

Hélène Fleury from Rosenheim wrote an article about the retreat, which gives a much better insight into the mood of the students. Thank you, Hélène!

Many thanks also to the coaches who were responsible for cooking and catering and to the entire nyendo team. It was a lot of fun again. We are going home recharged and are already looking forward to next time.
