Climate change is affecting Kenya too. The rainy seasons are no longer as regular as they used to be and when it does rain, it is often particularly heavy. There are usually long periods of drought in between. As a result, the school garden at the Kanyorosha Self Help School can no longer be watered, the vegetables grown with great effort dry out and the pupils lose their all-important school meals.
The hand-drawn plan
Area for installing the rain gutters
After submitting this hand-drawn but very meaningful plan, nyendo.lernen agreed to support the project. Our student company from Rosenheim transferred an additional €650 for the project on top of the existing donations and construction began just a few days later, on March 10, 2023.
The material arrived, is being installed and this is how it finally looks!
The work was completed by the end of March 2023. The total cost of the project is €907. The school will now be able to produce enough vegetables for school meals. If there are any surpluses, they can be sold to local residents to generate income for the upkeep of the school (electricity, drinking water, etc.).
