An exciting cultural exchange between NairoBits and Nyendo students took place in April 2023. The visit was an opportunity for the students to interact, learn from each other’s cultures, and explore the impact of digital skills training on empowering young people. Engaging activities, delicious Kenyan cuisine, and a celebration of the visit marked the event.<\/p>\n

The visit kicked of with a presentation from Alex on understanding NairoBits which was followed by interaction with the NairoBits students. The students from both organisations shared conversations about their respective backgrounds and daily activities. This interaction allowed them to appreciate and celebrate the diversity of their cultures. It was an enriching experience as they shared insights into their traditions, customs, and ways of life, bridging the gap between their two worlds.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

No visit to Kenya is complete without experiencing authentic local cuisine. The Nyendo students joined the NairoBits team in preparing a traditional Kenyan meal that included Ugali (a staple made from maize flour), spinach, and fish. This delightful delicacy, popular among various Kenyan tribes, showcased the country’s rich culinary heritage. Additionally, the students had the chance to savor a Swahili meal, further immersing themselves in the local culture.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The visit was made even more special by the warm welcome extended to the Nyendo students by Magdalene Wanjugu, the Executive Director of NairoBits, and the NairoBits team. Earlier in the year, Magdalene had visited the students’ school in Germany, fostering a connection. This collaboration between Nyendo Learnen and NairoBits highlights the importance of partnerships in establishing digital skills training centers and empowering young people.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

As part of the visit, the German students had the opportunity to witness firsthand the transformative work undertaken by NairoBits. By witnessing the impact of NairoBits’ programs, the students could put into perspective the potential of digital skills in equipping young people with the tools they need for a better future.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The visit of Nyendo Learnen students from Germany to NairoBits was a remarkable event that showcased the power of cultural exchange and the importance of digital skills training.
